Which color should I choose?
Agricultural fabrics MUST reflect solar energy (heat). When choosing a
fabric
which will reflect heat one should remember the following:
BEST - Metalized coated vinyls. GOOD - White coated vinyls or polyethylenes
or silver/white coated polyethylenes. BAD - Any dark or clear covering
material.
What should I look for in an
aeration system?
On downdraft-suction systems, fresh air intake openings should equal
the discharge openings in area (square inches). Aeration fans SHOULD
NOT be used to hold the cover down unless the aeration system is oversized.
An example: A 1/10th C.F.M./bushel can only provide 1/20th C.F.M./bushel
to the corn if it is required to hold down the cover also. A GOOD RETENTION
SYSTEM IS BETTER AND WILL HOLD COVER DOWN IF ELECTRICAL SUPPLY SHOULD
FAIL.
